Gordon Brown Celebrates National School Sport Week

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has shown his support for the first ever National School Sport Week – a week-long celebration of PE and school sport across thousands of schools in England.

The government initiative, which is supported by Norwich Union, was launched in May by the Prime Minister and Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes. Teachers and pupils were encouraged to come up with innovative activities to help celebrate and raise awareness of all the good work taking place in PE and school sport across the country, and over the course of the week, it hopes to engage up to three million school children – the largest number of school children ever to get involved in PE and school sport at any one time.

Dame Kelly and local school students, visited Downing St and got the Prime Minister and other MP's to join in with them as they demonstrated some of the different sports schools across England have been implementing to encourage more kids to get active.
