Dame Kelly Holmes Brings UK’s Next Generation Of Medal Hopefuls To Delhi

President of the Commonwealth Games England, Dame Kelly Holmes, is available for live and pre-recorded interviews to discuss this year’s games, and how she is nurturing eight of the UK’s most talented young middle and long distance runners by giving them an opportunity of a lifetime – to experience their first taste of life as an elite athlete at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The aspiring athletes will get the chance to compete, train and witness what their heroes go through during high level international competition as well as a ‘behind-the-scenes’ sneak peek of the Games. The eight athletes have been hand picked by Dame Kelly and are part of the double Olympic champion’s mentoring initiative, On Camp With Kelly. To date, over 60 young British female and male runners have been involved in the initiative, which includes training camps, financial and medical support, as well as mentoring and advice from Dame Kelly.

With five of the athletes currently competing in the English team in Delhi originating from OCWK, it’s hoped the experiences and lessons learnt from OCWK will help prepare them for future success on the international sporting arena, and fulfil their potential as the UK’s Olympic and Commonwealth champions of the future.
