Sports Stars Celebrate Our Local Sporting Champions At UK Sports Awards

Some of the biggest names in sport past and present, have come together to honour the best schools, teachers, teams and individuals in the country for their contribution to school sport – at this year’s School Sport Matters Awards at Wembley Stadium.

Now in its sixth year, the Aviva Daily Telegraph School Sport Matters Awards aim to recognise the fantastic achievements in school sport over the last school year, and are an opportunity to further celebrate sport and athletics at all levels in the UK.

Some of the Award categories this year include Male and Female Student of the Year; School Sport Teacher of the Year; School Team of the Year; and Excellence in Disabled Sport. Presenters at this year’s awards include Olympic gold medallists Mark Lewis-Francis and Duncan Goodhew; 1966 World Cup winning football star George Cohen; British Champion boxer Nathan Cleverly; World Athletics Championship bronze medallist Jenny Meadows; former England rugby player Brian Moore and former England & Arsenal football stalwart, Lee Dixon.
