World’s Best Athletes Launch 2011 Athletics Series

The world’s number one heptathlete, Jessica Ennis, and reigning 400m Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu, have launched the 2011 Aviva Series in Birmingham ahead of a busy athletics schedule next year.

Jess Ennis is set to also announce which events she plans to compete in as she prepares for the European Indoor Championships in Paris.

The Aviva Series will make up a substantial part of most athletes’ preparations for the IAAF World Championships in South Korea next year, and will be essential in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympics. With six separate meetings around the UK, British athletes will gain valuable experience competing against the world’s best athletes, as well as the thrill and expectation of performing in front of home crowds.

In an important year for athletics, the Series will also provide a great opportunity for supporters to get close to the athletes, be part of their preparations, and enjoy the action as the global athletics elite head to British shores.

Jessica and Christine will also detail how their preparations are going for London 2012 and what they expect from the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
